Servers are the brains of most corporations. The rooms and racks that house these servers are a critical part of a company’s cabling infrastructure. Since servers, racks and the required cabling usually account for a large part of an IT manager’s budget, they must be assured that this environment is built correctly.

Because the Bay Area is a hot bed of seismic activity, all server room equipment and racks must be seismically braced so that they can withstand the next shaker. All server racks that we install are braced in two ways. First we attach cable ladder to the tops of the racks and extend them to the wall. This helps stabilize the racks and keeps them from swaying. Secondly, we bore holes into the concrete and install sleeves and bolts at the bottom of the racks to keep them from shifting.

In many cases, servers are housed in Data Centers, located off-site for security purposes. Td Communications Inc. specializes in installing copper and fiber tie cables in these Data Centers (often referred to as “colocations”). Most Data Centers pose a challenge to contractors working within them, from very strict installation guidelines to heightened insurance requirements. We have vast experience meeting these challenges, having worked in many of the Bay Area’s colocations.
